Venice Beach Field Trip

I just took my CLU photography class on a field trip to Venice Beach, CA. We had a great time, and took lots of photos. It is a crazy place, and the weather was perfect. And no - no one got a tattoo while we were there!

I can’t wait to see all of my student’s photos.

New Photography Exhibit in Ventura, CA

My photographs will featured in a solo exhibit at Studio 1317 in Ventura, CA. All the photographs are new. They come from a recent road trip to Texas to visit my wife’s family. We flew into Houston, then drove to Corpus Christi, taking lots of detours along the way. We stopped in a lot of small rural Texas towns to explore and take photographs. One of my favorite towns was Refugio – several of the images in the exhibit are from that area.

Pericles Photo Shoot

Cal Lutheran is putting on the play “Pericles – Prince of Tyre”. One of Shakespeare’s later plays, Pericles is a wild romantic tale of adventure that has its young hero traveling by sea to exotic lands. The play will have a grunge-futuristic look: Here are a few publicity photos showing the cast and costumes.

I lit and processed the images to have a video game look and feel. They came out just the way I had hoped. Can’t wait to see the play!

I just bought this really cool new software package called Topaz Adjust that adds texture to the photos and creates an exciting and unique look.

Sculptor Paul Lucchesi in the Kwan Fong Gallery

World famous sculptor has been commissioned to produce a life-size bronze for California Lutheran University.

Paul starts with a small version of the piece, a maquette, which shows us what the finished sculpture will look like. Amazingly, he has only a couple of snapshots to go by.

Moonlight at the Ranch

This year’s Moonlight at the Ranch, a fundraiser for the police and fire departments, had a space theme, with Buzz Aldrin as the master of ceremonies. Lots good food, friends, music and perfect weather.
